Kristi grew up in Western Canada and spent the first 33 years of her life living in Alberta and British Columbia. She started working at stables at the age of 11 being a general barn hand and worked her way up to Foreman of a large Equestrian facility at the age of 18.
Over the years, her experience has included riding and training in a variety of both English and Western disciplines. In her early 20's she became a certified coach with the Certified Horsemans Association, for both English and Western riding.
In her own riding, Kristi has chosen to persue Eventing and Working Equitation now that she lives in Florida. Within this, all of her horses are taught to have good self regulation and excellent ground manners to enable them to be handled by anyone. The more she has learnt about the horses nervous system and how it relates to their physical movement and ability, the more intrigued she has become.
Her main competition horse, a 2015 Friesian/Arabian mare, has allowed her to dabble in a variety of disciplines, riding styles, and training techniques. They can be seen together galloping across a cross country course, or riding demos in a neck rope. Cross training is a big part of her philosophy regardless of the end goal with the horse. Whether eventing, dressage, jumping, or trail riding is the ultimate goal, a well rounded horse is what will be happiest and safest.
